The Swine in Biomedical Research Conference 2017 represents the sixth (1995, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017) in a series of conferences that have highlighted the utility of porcine models in biomedical research. The 2017 conference will be convened at the SMC Campus Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore from September 23-25, 2017. We are anticipating this location will ensure strong US and international participation.
The specific aims of the conference are:
- Specific Aim 1. Identify areas of study or methodologies that enhance the utility of pigs as biomedical models.
- Specific Aim 2. Identify resource needs and areas in which new approaches or methodologies are required.
- Specific Aim 3. Stimulate interactions between researchers working within swine and human disciplines.
- Specific Aim 4. Provide an integrated discussion focusing on the regulated use of pigs and regulatory approval pathways associated with the use of pigs for biomedical research.
